This and That

Well, this will be a quiet weekend. Mom, Sara, and Meredith are going to ND, driving all the way up on Friday and all the way back on Monday, with the two weekend days to visit. Em and Andy are coming on Saturday to stay in their house and take care of the animals, but I have to go there on Friday evening and SAturday morning and again on Monday morning.

At work, our summer help is leaving. For me that means more work at the front counter, which means more standing and walking, which means that on very busy days I am likely to go home and collapse in the chair, and not move for several hours. Supper on those days is not very good. The one girl has been here for several years, and she handles things very well. The other counter girl's last day was yesterday. We have had donuts two days in a row. Today I had a chocolate frosted custard filled long john. MMMMMMMmmmmmm.......

David is walking around very well with his walker, and trying to walk without it. His knees are hurting less every day and he only takes one or two pain pills a day. Jeffrey has been staying with us and taking David to PT which is a God-send. We did not have a way for David to get there until Jeffrey said he was coming to stay with us! God works things out for our good once again.

David wants to go to church this Sunday, actually he wanted to go to the men's Bible study Sat morning at 7 am. I would have to drive him, and I said oh no, I wanted to sleep. And I think sitting on a folding chair for a couple of hours would not be a good thing for him. Maybe in a couple of weeks when they meet again. I may try to go to women's Bible study, ours starts at 9:30 which is a little more presentable time. But church on Sunday, I will help him get there. We shall have to get up very early, because I have to help him get dressed, wash his feet, change his bandage, and put a clean pair of Ted hose on him. David puts the Ted hose on his sock putter oner thing and that helps get them on. It hurts my hands to pull those socks on!!

Back to work, my time is up!

August 12

David, my husband, came through his surgery to replace both his knees with flying colors. The only "Problems" were that it was hard to get the epidural in to put him to sleept, it took a while for the anesthia to work, and he lost a lot of blood. So he is in good spirits, because the pinching pain in his knees is gone, but he is tired. Both times they got him up, his blood pressure fell so much they had to lie him back down in the bed. If he is sitting in a chair today, that will be a good sign. I don't know, he is supposed to come home tomorrow, he has to walk, climb three steps, and be able to get up and down from a chair, and the toilet! That is a lot when you are weak!
Everyone is helping, Mims walked the dog, Sara and Mims came and moved some furniture for me, so there is room for a walker. Chris is mowing the lawn and walking the dog today.

Speaking of the dog, I put him in his kennel at bedtime, and he whimpered a little once. I yelled at him and that was it. Beautiful! Maybe he knows I mean business, because David is not even here, and I won'tlet him sleep with me.....when David is here, Charlie snarls at him when he comes to bed. He does get over it, but it is not a good thing. Of course, yelling from bed when you are trying to sleep is not a good thing, either.

I need to get to Wal-Mart today, and I may go after my appointment ends at five. If I hurry, I can still get to David by six.

I will be glad when David is feeling better and can walk about and help again.

Getting Started

Cubicle tails: I spend my life in a cubicle at work, typing, and not communication in any way with the world. Tails: obviously a play on the word tale, based on the fact that we have a dog named Charlie at home, whose tail wags back and forth very fast when he is excited and happy.

The picture is of David and I, dancing at my daughter's wedding. It has nothing to do with cubicles, but it does have a tale!

Part of me would like to write my life's story here, Just start at the beginning and go right along until now. It might be very boring for many people to read this! Maybe I will, in posts with a special heading so others could avoid it. LIke Life Part 1, ect, until I am done.

Today I am at work and David is at home, with the car. I asked him to bring me a coffee, after his doctor's visit, but he got busy and couldn't do it. I am stuck here for the whole hour of lunch, and that is another reason I started this blog, it will give me something useful to do with my time. I am in my cubicle, eating my sandwich, and listening to the summer helpers wait on people. The detectives, of all people, are out finding people who've had warrants out for along time, and these people are coming in to pay--these "warrant" are actually commitments, which means they have failed to pay their municipal citations. So they either pay or go to jail. The weather is too nice to go to jail! So the city is making a bunch of money today. Of course, they have waited years, in some cases. I would think the detectives would have better things to do with their time!!

The "ambulance chasers" as we call them are here in full force this noon. One just finished with the accident reports, and another came in. These are actually employees of lawyers who come in to see who has been injured in an accident, or has some other reason to sue someone, so they can offer their services. The department is required to let them see these accident reports, as part of the open records law.
That is work, to which I must return in three minutes. On the personal side, my husband, David, is the love of my life. He is my second husband, my first husband died almost 12 years ago, from diabetes and sarcoidosis. When you get two incurable chronic diseases, and you are not good at staying on you diet and exercising, things just do not go well for you! Bruce was a very good husband and father, but he just loved the bread group and sweets. Of course, do I take my own advice? Not really, I love these two things too. I do try to eat my veggies and fruits; have had three fruits already today!
David and I met on Match.com. It is the only way we would have ever met, because our lives just did not connect, even though he only lived three miles away!
More on this later.........
